Villa A1

Villa Atrium

Designed for a wooded site, this elongated atrium house responds to the family’s specific wishes. The aim was to create a home where art, architecture, and landscape intertwine. The design was shaped by their requests for generous ceiling heights to accommodate artworks, a seamless connection between interior and exterior spaces, welcoming areas for guests, and a layout that would remain functional as the family grows older.

At the heart of the house lies a spacious atrium courtyard, framed by the sauna wing and a long cast-in-place concrete wall. The courtyard floor continues at the same level as the interior, with floor-to-ceiling sliding doors opening from every room onto the outdoor space. The atrium faces a preserved section of the site’s woodland, providing both privacy and a natural backdrop. The ground floor ceiling height is tailored to the family’s art collection, and the layout combines a classical room sequence with long sightlines through the house. Private spaces are located on the upper floor.

The façades feature elongated Danish bricks laid in varying directions, paired with oiled timber cladding. The floor-to-ceiling sliding doors meet the demanding proportions of the high ground floor and complete the architectural expression.
